Premium Savings Bonds

Premium Bonds are issued by National savings and Investments and are a popular form of saving and entering a draw to win cash prizes of up to £1m.

The minimum purchase is £100 and the maximum holding is £30,000.

Instead of paying interest the bonds are entered into a monthly prize draw. The notional interest rate is currently (November 2008) 1.8%, prizes are tax free.

The odds of each £1 Bond unit winning a prize in the monthly draw are 36,000 to one.

This is a tax free investment offering a chance of winning substantial prizes. The value of holdings will decrease in time due to inflation.
